KPN makes internal webcasts more inclusive with Soundshape
Including colleagues who do not speak Dutch
KPN uses Soundshape during meetings, events and live webcasts. The reason for introducing it was clear: making internal communication more inclusive for employees who do not speak Dutch.
Most of its use takes place during internal webcasts, created by employees for their colleagues. In these settings, KPN wants to ensure that language does not prevent people from following what is being said.
Live captions for webcasts and events
During live webcasts, KPN uses Soundshape for captions and translation. At events and meetings, the organisation uses live captions.
This helps KPN support accessibility across different forms of internal communication, from presentations during a webcast to gatherings with colleagues.
Lowering the barrier to presenting in Dutch
Soundshape does more than help KPN include employees who do not speak Dutch. KPN also reports a benefit for the employees giving presentations.
According to KPN, using Soundshape lowers the barrier for employees to present in Dutch. It supports both the inclusivity of the webcast and the employee sharing their story.
KPN’s experience
KPN reports that translation quality continues to improve and also highlights its interest in the product updates. Feedback shows that employees appreciate the availability of live captions and translation.
At the same time, some words are occasionally mistranslated. KPN associates these errors with articulation and sentence structure, which remain points of attention during use.
“Soundshape is easy to use and promotes inclusivity.”
